Arnab's musical training began at the age of four and he became a disciple of lengendary sarod player Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta as a grade schooler. He has also been guided at various points by sarod master Amjad Ali Khan, vocalist Ulhas Kashalkar and multi-instrumentalist Nayan Ghosh. He had his debut concert at age thirteen and embarked on his first international tour at sixteen. Since then he has performed at some of the best known music stages the world over. He has also been an active recording artist for motion pictures in India and the US. Arnab has worked on improving the ergonomics of the sarod and has adopted the "gandhar-pancham" tuning synonymous with Ustad Vilayat Khan's sitar.
