Barunkumar Pal plays an instrument of his own creation: an indianization of the Hawaiian guitar. Born into a musical family in Bengal, he was initiated into music by his father Bankimkumar Pal, a senior sitar player of the Enayat Khan gharana. His playing has been influenced by many greats such as Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, Pt. Kartick Kumar and most importantly, by his guru: Pt. Ravi Shankar.
