Tarun Bhattacharya is one of today's leading santoor players and perhaps the only one from Baba Allaudin Khan's Maihar Gharana. With his father, Pt. Robi Bhattacharya being the founder of a prestigious music academy in West Bengal, music runs in Tarunji's family. His training began at age four under Pt. Dulal Roy. Later he became a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar. Besides being an active performer all over the world and on radio and television, he has released more than fifty recordings to date.
